ABA insurance and Medicaid coverage in Wyoming
Last researched October 21, 2026
Who pays for ABA in Wyoming, and what a practice has to do to bill them. Coverage details here come from statutes and agency pages we read, not from payer marketing.
Autism insurance mandate
- State mandate for autism coverage
Yes, the research found a state autism coverage law.
- Statute
W.S. 26-20-701 establishes general mental health insurance parity. Wyoming DOI Bulletin 01-2019, dated April 19, 2019, addresses autism coverage under that parity framework; its existence and subject were verified in the DOI's bulletin register, while its coverage details were confirmed through Autism Speaks.
- Age limits
We could not verify this yet - check with your state insurance department.
- Annual cap
Autism Speaks reports no explicit coverage caps in its Wyoming summary, last updated December 2019. The original bulletin's limit provisions could not be independently read.
- Excludes self-funded employer plans
Yes, self-funded employer plans are generally outside state mandates.
- Notes
As of 2026-10-21, Autism Speaks reports that Wyoming requires state-regulated individual, small-group and large-group plans offering mental health benefits to cover evidence-based autism treatment, including ABA, pharmacy, psychiatric, psychological and therapeutic care, with compliance required by July 1, 2019. The self-funded exclusion refers generally to ERISA employer plans under 29 U.S.C. 1144; it is not universal: Autism Speaks specifically reports that the bulletin includes self-funded Multiple Employer Welfare Arrangements. The coverage sources do not establish whether commercial plans reimburse services delivered by unregistered BTs or require RBT certification.

Payers named in our research
Names come from the research behind this page. Appearing here does not mean a payer is accepting new providers or that networks are open. Always confirm directly with the payer.
Other payers
- Wyoming Medicaid (fee-for-service; utilization management by Telligen) - Wyoming Department of Health page lists Telligen for utilization management; whether ABA prior authorization runs through it was not confirmed. The original 2017 SPA described a 20-visit yearly limit waivable when medically necessary, with EPSDT clients under 21 not limited.
